Historical references

The varietal name Bassoleina is mentioned by Bertozzi (1840). There is no further historical information for this grape variety, which is very rare in the Reggio Emilia area. Recently, Basoleina was genetically characterized at 9 microsatellite loci by Meglioraldi et al. (2013).
